The brief

Our client, MHP, is a Ukrainian agricultural giant. They are the leading grain and meat processing company in Ukraine and among Europe’s top poultry meat producers. Due to its complex operations, MHP opted for WebbyLab’s services to optimize internal processes and document flow.

In particular, MHP’s vacation request process relied on paper forms, which caused an extra manual workload. The client, instead, required a solution that would optimize paper resources, improve cost planning, and provide self-service tools for employees and their managers. They expected a system where workers could submit vacation requests electronically — anywhere, anytime — and get these requests verified and tracked instantly.

Challenge

Our core business challenge was to deliver a solution that fully met our client’s needs and reduced reliance on managers and offices — specifically by streamlining the vacation request process. Incorporating functions like data sorting was also critical.

The technical hurdle we faced was integrating with the customer’s API and creating a multiplatform web application.

Solution

Based on the identified business and technical challenges, WebbyLab suggested a powerful solution: a classic web application built on cutting-edge web and cloud technologies. The app consists of a ReactJS frontend and a NodeJS backend that acts as a proxy to the customer’s API. Deployed on Azure Container Apps, the application offers scalability and accessibility from various devices and browsers.

Key features

We created frontend and backend parts from scratch and integrated them with third-party APIs to deliver the following functionalities:

  • Digital signature on a PDF document.
  • Data representation.
  • Secure authentication.
  • Data filtering.

Results

The web application we developed successfully automates vacation request creation for a company with over 25,000 employees. It also reduces the time and paperwork needed by the HR (Human Resources) department. The delivered app is reliable and user-friendly, catering to users of all technical backgrounds, from farmers to CEOs.

The project is nearing completion. Upon release, we plan to collect user data and feedback to understand their needs better. While the trial version will be available to users, the client will prepare their API for the second iteration, including new functionalities.

We used a range of technologies throughout the development process:
